Christy House Emergency Shelter (CHES)

The GWYUL has operated the Christy House Emergency Shelter (CHES) since 1985.

 

We provided services to 604 individuals which equated to 8,350 nights lodging and 18,783 meals served.  Of the clients served 49% moved to permanent housing.

The Christy House programming has helped our clients overcome homelessness, drug or alcohol addiciton, but through our progamming 

 

Our staff has combined experience of over 60 years serving the ccommunity. It is said that experience is the best teacher and we believe in giving others a second chance.

  1. Another name for The Christy Homeless Emergency Shelter is also known as the Christy House, Christy Homeless Shelter, Amos Christy House, and CHES.

  2. ​CHES is operated by the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League (GWYUL).

  3. The Christy House is located on 919 Main Ave SW, Warren, Ohio 44483.

  4. Call (330) 394-4316 to connect with the CHES. 

  5. The shelter is up to 30 days for people experiencing homelessness. 

  6. Balanced meals are provided daily. 

  7. CHES offers laundry services. 

  8. The Christy House offers services on employment, education, housing, and other community services (food banks, clothing, welfare).

  9. CHES is a first-come, first-served basis and a photo ID is required. 

  10. The Christy House serves Trumbull County and other surrounding counties if space is available. 

  11. In a recent reporting period, the shelter served 604 individuals, for a total of 8,350 nights lodged and 18,783 meals served. 

  12. Of those served, about 49% moved on to permanent housing.
